Customer Review: This is more of a comment than a review. I'm considering buying my first Mac (a MB Pro) but what blows me away about all the reviews here is that while most previous Mac owners say hold off for the next generation it's the 'windows switch-overs' who seem to be most blown away by the Mac books. They seem overwhelmed by the experience. Tells me all the more that I need to jump ship too from my miserable existance in Windows-land although I may wait for the next generation for some of the macbook kinks to be worked out...

Customer Review: I was looking for a nice, small and powerful laptop that could replace my Toshiba Centrino 2Ghz 17". Among many options I choose this one for many reasons: Great price Great desing and look No MS Windows in it (so I will less vulnerable to viruses) Excelente application availability (MS Office, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, DVD Authoring, DVD Burning, MSN Messenger, eMail, etc, etc, etc). Rock solid platform (*nix based). Good device support (From OSX or *nix) iSight camera is awesome Battery performance (up to 4 hours doing stuff like browsing the web, email and chat at the same time). Huge touchpad Superb backlit keyboard (nice feeling too) I have read many complaints about this laptop being too hot to use, but as far I can say, I haven't noticed excessive heat coming up from it. There's only one minor flaw that could be fixed at newegg for $45: You need 1024Mb RAM to unleash the full power of the CPU, if not, opening Rosetta translated apps will take more time, but after that, the app will work fine. Wireless conectivity is a snap, more friendly than Windows. It took me like 4 days to get used to the new OS, but now I'm like a fish in the water. In short, if you are looking for a laptop that could replace your desktop, or you need power mobility and don't need to run any particular application that's availiable to Windows only, then this could be the one that's for you, as it was for me.

Customer Review: Would anyone who has received the Toshiba R25-S3503 from Amazon.com tell me if the unit has a SILVER or BLACK LCD cover (outside)? I prefer a BLACK LCD outside cover. I will appreciate anyone telling me if the one that he/she received from Amazon.com has a BLACK (instead of titanium SILVER) outside cover. In the 3rd picture of the model on Amazon.com, the OUTSIDE cover of the LCD appears to be black to me. In a local computer stores, however, it is silver. My evaluation of the Toshiba R25-S3503 is as follows: Positives: I set up this "has-all" compact convertible pc a week ago and was pleased with what it offers: (1) higher resolution screen (1440X900 vs. 1280X800); (2) tablet functionality; (3) new dual core technology; (4) longer battery life (than other models); (5) included OneNote; (6) DVD writing features including InterVideo DVD player and creator; (7) MOST OUTSTANDING: shock-proof hard drive, LCD screen, LCD inverter, chassis. This last positive of hardware structural is important because of my experience of a 3-year-old Sony notebook the LCD screen of which went out on me suddenly, for no obvious reason. I was told that it was the LCD inverter that needs repair or replacement. Solution to "Letters/Characters too Small" or "Eye Strain": A user has commented about the letters/characters on the display of the Toshiba R25-S3503 are too small to be legible or it causes eye strain. This can be easily dealt with by going to "Properties" and select "Windows" (DISPLAY) (on the same menu that offers "Screen Resolution" and "Desktop" as well as "Screen Saver"). Simply select either "Large" or "Extra Large" font size. This font size option is located on the lower left in the Windows option. This will enlarge the letters under each Windows desktop icon, making them much easier on the eyes. These enlarged letters do not suffer from the distortion or reduced clarity, because there is no reduction of the 1440X900 resolution - only the character size is increased. Wish list: Thinner and lighter, 2nd pc card slot, and 10-hour battery life! Conclusion: I highly recommend the Toshiba R25-S3503. The feature that sets it apart is its hardware structural security - esp. the LCD and LCD inverter.

Customer Review: Okay, so if you are like me you want to hear from other buyers and see about the reviews for the products I plan on purchasing. So when I decided about finally getting this Tablet PC, I looked up this product and couldn't find any reviews at all. So today, I decided to check up on this at Amazon. I read the previous review and I have to admit that if I would have read waht he wrote in his review, I wouldn't have purchased this Tablet PC. However, I didn't read it and I did purchase the Tablet PC. I have to tell you guys that I'm very pleased with the Toshiba Tablet PC. I like all the Toshiba software and I also love how the Stylus slips into the side of the unit. And there is even a back up stylus in a hidden compartment on the bottom of the unit incase you ever loose the stylus. (I left it at home a few times and had to use the back up). I have only one complaint about the unit however, so get ready. The unit is pretty battery intensive. So I purchased a back up. It has 1 gig of memory and a dual processor. I've been using it moderatly heavy on a daily basis at home and only occasionally at work. It really impressed the people I sat with at a Project management seminar. One guy was typing on his laptop, another guy had this collapsable keyboard hooked up to a PalmPilot? It wasnt' working to well on his lap. It kept folding up on him as he was typing stuff. I was using the Tablet PC as a notebook and handwriting the notes. When I got home it converted the handwriting to text. Pretty slick. I too have had an issue with the power supply chord. And I too contacted Toshiba Service hotline. I had a completely different experience the the previous poster who mentioned something about being lied to. They took my service request over the phone, located a local service rep and had a workorder already set up when I got to the local rep. I just supplied the service order number and two days later I got my new Power Supply AC Adapter. I just went and picked it up. I even took a service quality survey and gave them all good reviews. Now maybe it's just me, but I'm sure some of you out there will know exactly what I'm talking about. When I'm dealing with a Tablet PC or anything that small and that expensive, I have a natural tendancy to be gentle with these items. My Ipod, my PSP, my Tablet PC, my car, my Cell phone... you get the idea. I just don't see it neccessary to be rough with my items. I can just imagine the previous person who reviewed this item slaming the lid closed, or puching the keyboard hard, or using the stylus with a deathgrip and pressing down HARD, or hitting the monitor with a club... Well that last one was an exageration, but you get the idea. I'm not saying that it isn't possible to break these parts with normal usage, but it hasn't happened to me. I've been using my Tablet PC for about 5 months now and other then the AC Adapter issue, I havn't experienced anything that would make me give this item a negative review and tell people to avoid. In my experience, it has been a great piece of hardware and the only time I experienced any trouble, I was well taken care of. In closing, I'm extremly pleased with this Tablet PC.

Customer Review: Sony Vaio Laptops are the worst in the world, take it from a corporate IT guy who supports hundreds of these worthless bricks ! Summary of problems: Hooooot 2. Unreliable 3. Unreliable CD 4. Dead LCD's 5. Horrible batteries and failing power adapters 6. Tech support is a joke, so bad it is almost funny READ THIS REVIEW FOR ELABORATION I work for an advertising and greeting card company here in the Kansas City area, a real hall mark of the industry. ;-). We are a Sony corporate customer and buy thousands of these notebooks per year for our artistic and sales staff (great ideas don't happen just between 8-5). All Sony Vaio notebooks, new or old, DuoCore or older Pentium IV, suffer from: 1. Excessive heat problems, I mean so hot it can turn thin paper brown when between the computer and your desktop, your leg and lap will eventually become accustomed to this scorching heat because the nerve endings in your thigh will begin to die like slowly cooked meat. 2. Unreliability ! The majority of the issues is degrading fan assemblies, the normal warranty is one year and what a coincidence, the fan will start to become noisier around the 11th month and work intermittently, but this is ok since the system already runs at an uncomforable heat level -the Intel CPU will just shut the Vaio down to protect itself from heat issues, it just always seems to happen while working on something important. 3. CD-ROM / DVD+RW drives fail on several fronts, the drive will immediately deterioate in read and write performance, or the tray will eject past the slide lock so when you pull open the tray you'll literally pull it out of the notebook ! 4. LCD / More dead pixels than a tribbles massacre, some pixels are really too big to be called pixels, more like pixel towns of deadness on your LCD. 5. Batteries suffer immediate memory loss, forget they are Lithium Ion, you will end up replacing your battery within the first year, we've replaced over 40% of our Vaio batteries in the last 6 months alone just because they won't put out more than 20 minutes of power on a full charge. 6. Power adapters, they just die, but you won't find out until after you've checked into your hotel room, new power adapters are only $90 but don't plan on finding one at CompUSA, you might get lucky and find one at Amazon for $70 or a copy for $40 that might catch fire. 7. The woooooooooorst technical support from any company you've ever gotten, as corporate customers we're supposed to get higher tier support than the consumer, but despite the premimum we paid on over 4,000 of these things -our calls are still routed to the same support desk as the regular consumer and... it sucks ! They just sit there and tell you to reformat and restore the computer, even when we call for driver support issues !

Sony in general, makes over priced poor quality electronics and the Vaio notebooks are just another accurate representation of Sony poor quality.

Customer Review: I bougt a Sony VAIO SZ220. This computer is blazing fast, and runs wonderful. On the other hand, the keyboard is definately done wrong. The keys seem a bit flemsy and the space bar has to be pressed in the middle (I popped off the space bar and put a slice of a pencil eraser on the button.. fixed the problem!). I have one pixel so far that has gone out and I've had it for a month. the screen is pretty flemsy also, and doesn't have a locking mechanism. The loose battery is extremely annoying but no big problem.. I also learned that the metal part your hands rest on while typing seems to have some sort of current running through it because my guitar makes funny sounds when I touch them at the same time. The little docking spot on the bottom won't stay closed..The laptop emits alot of heat.. But I really love it. I do. My friend bought an FJ series and has no problems from it that I have from this one. They don't have the same processing power but they are still fast!! Oh by the way.. my HD was advertised at 100g and it is actually 105.
